According to TOI report , As a part of a Rs.9400 crore package for hybrid and electric vehicles, Government plans to give sops of more than 9k crore to push the sale of eco friendly vehicles. As a part of Rs, 9400 crore package towards electric and hybrid cars the government may offer incentive of upto 2.5 lakh to those who switch to electric vehicles by scrapping their old petrol or diesel powered vehicles. Along with this, there is a sops for investment in manufacturing of motors parts in country also. Government is all set to give incentives for different electric vehicles categories.

Electric Cars been increasingly making the headlines in the recent years, even the major car manufacturer like Volvo has recently announced that Volvo cars to be all electric or hybrid from 2019 and even the Indian government want to see our roads free of petrol and diesel cars by 2030. Although electric cars is relatively a new concept in Indian automotive industry. After the announcement by Indian government to make India all electric by 2030, all the major automobile companies are concentrating their efforts to launch electric vehicles in India. Tata Motors Ties Up With Jayem Automotive To Launch Jayem Neo Electric Car.


TATA NANO,since its launched Tata Nano has gone through several updates in a very short span of time, however its acceptance was not that encouraging. Tata is now contributing towards launching a new avatar of Nano which we will soon going to see in Indian roads as Jayem Neo. Jayem Neo will be the total electric version of Tata Nano. Neo is nothing but the Electric version of Tata Nano that will be manufactured and market by Coimbatore based Jayem Automotive.Tata Motors and Jayem Automotive have joined hands to form a joint venture wherein Tata Motors will supply the body shells of Nano to Jayem Automotive. Jayem Automotive will source the electric motors which will be fitted to electric powertrains sourced from a company called Electra Ev and will assembled the final car that will carry the Jayem branding instead of Tata Motors.

Hyundai is all set to launch its most awaited Electric Car in India by 2019. The KONA will be Hyundai first electric car in India. Hyundai MD and CEO, Mr. Y.K.Koo Said -

 " We will be launching Electric Vehicles in India from next year. We feel it is appropriate to began with SUV's and thus,KONA will be assembled from completely - Knock down kits".

Hyundai has revealed its new KONA Electric compact SUV in Geneva Auto show, the Hyundai KONA will be available as Hybrid,plug in Hybrid and a fully Electric car. Hyundai motors has brought its long range electric compact SUV to the New York auto show last month. The Petrol and Diesel version of KONA is already available overseas,but still awaiting to launch in India. If it launched in India with conventional powertrain, it will compete between Creta and Tuscon. The KONA is shorter than Creta by 105mm and wider than the Creta by 20mm.

It is expected that by 2025, the battery operated Cars would possibly gets cheaper than their counterparts (petrol & Diesel) if the cost of Lithium batteries continues to fall. 

According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance report ,soon the cost of battery operated Electric Cars will go down due to continue fall in the prices of Lithium-Ion batteries. Till 2024 the price of some models will cost same as combustion engine and latter it will gets more cheaper in years to come and for that to happen the price of battery pack is need to fall, even if the demand of metal that go with the unit continue to rise, told by the London based researcher.

Switching to electric mode of transportation will going to help by reducing about 1 gigaton of carbon dioxide emission by 2030.
